THE MODEL

One of my great loves when it comes to drawing from life is capturing the model.  Life Drawing amongst a group of fellow artists creates a buzz of focussed energy. Arms and hands moving the charcoal freely across the paper, forms begin to take shape.  Can I capture the essence of the person in front of me? How does the face and body move when they talk or stretch between poses? Can I simplify the detail into a suggestion of form?  These can all be captured in a single line or smudge.  It's an endlessly fascinating process.

I look forward to sharing more with you. Stay tuned for more charcoal sketches of the human form. Coming soon.....
